You can call this fetishizing, or othering, or racist, or you can remain unconvinced that it’s even a thing and call it nothing at all. Regardless, there’s something exciting about the prospect of watching people fuck as people–not as “Asians” or “MILFs” or “BBWs.” People, not labels. Sex, not porn.
All this, of course, presupposes that Gallop’s problem is in fact legit. I can speak only from my own experience, but I’ve never encountered the kind of degrading attitudes she reports. Is Gallop fucking the wrong guys? Or–more interestingly, and disturbingly–are they responding to her not as a person but as a caricature of the middle-aged, leather-clad, sexually aggressive cougar? Are they offering her pornified sex because they think that’s what she wants?
If so, Gallop’s site will have to include May-December couples too: an antidote to the negative stereotypes about the sexual appetites of older women, a demographic that is rarely represented honestly or even positively.
